The Garden city model appeared as a reaction to the industrialization effects on human settlements (the same effects causing the Functionalist city model, but inspire its supporters, believers in progress, the ones of the Garden city wanted a remake of a medieval embellished way of life).
In the Interbellum period, is a mix between the two models:
- garden city characteristics: the recall of a traditional building image
- functionalist city characteristics: it is a city extension, not a new clear delimited town, although the streets aren’t all perpendicular and some are organic
Our projects – GREEN BLANKET – is also a interpretation aiming to solve our day problems. The industry changing role at the city and society level, is now played by information and its ways of transmission. Our proposal is one which reanalyses the humans & nature report (humans who become more and more stranger of nature, relating it by simulacres), and also reanalyses the inter-human relationships (individuals becoming more and more strangers, because of the same simulacres). Our proposal is a green blanket, generated form nowadays technology, o protective blanket, as possible as it could it and inter-woven / con-labored with the humans life, letting spaces for inter-relations support.
